~ Adenovirus Infection Takes Another Life

KUALA LUMPUR: Another trainee of the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol), trainee inspector Mohd Redzuan Ishak died following the Adenovirus infection at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) early this morning.

The police said in its Facebook that Mohd Redzuan, 26, who had been receiving treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for the past one week, died at 4.20am. “Mohd Redzuan’s remains will be taken back to Bandar Sg Buaya, Rawang this morning for burial,” the police said in the website.

Mohd Redzuan was the second victim who died of the Adenovirus infection which had infected trainees at the Pulapol since March 4.

The first victim was a 21-year-old male trainee constable from Kuala Kangsar who died on March 9. As at 8am yesterday, 40 police trainees were still being treated at two hospitals here. Thirty-four of the trainees were being treated at the HKL while six were at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Meanwhile, The Royal Malaysia Police has conveyed its condolences to the family of trainee inspector Mohd Redzuan Ishak, who died of Adenovirus infection at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) early yesterday.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Hussin Ismail said the police shared the grief and sorrow over the death of Mohd Redzuan, 26, and hoped his family would overcome the great loss.

Mohd Redzuan, 26, who had been receiving treatment for Adenovirus infection (illness of the respiratory system) at the HKL for the past one week, died at 4.20am.

Hussin said 32 trainees were still warded at normal wards while another at the intensive care unit.

“A total of 534 trainees are still being quarantined and their training has been suspended pending further notice and we cannot say for certain when the training will resume,” he told reporters at the HKL.

Mohd Redzuan’s father, Ishak Daharin, 48, said Mohd Redzuan was a good son, who aspired to rise to the position of the inspector-general of police.

Ishak, an Astro cameraman, said his son resigned as an executive in an oil and gas company despite getting a lucrative salary as he wanted to be a police officer.

Mohd Redzuan’s sister, Farah Nurhuda, 23, said her brother not only helped his siblings tide over their financial woes but had never asked their father for money despite studying part time for an international business degree.

Mohd Redzuan’s fiancee, Nurhazwani Liyana, 23, said at their last meeting, Mohd Redzuan told her to make her own decision if he was no longer around and take good care of herself.
